vivo V25: Reasons why it is more than just a Night Portrait Master

Tech giant vivo has released its latest flagship phone, the vivo V25 series. It has a big focus on camera capabilities, most especially, night photography.

The vivo V25 series, or “Night Portrait Master” as it’s called, has the right set of camera hardware and software features that makes for a great camera phone. However, there’s more to this smartphone than its picture-taking capabilities.

vivo has created three different devices to build the V25 series: there’s the affordable V25, a fancier V25, and the top-tier model, the V25 Pro. All three offer key highlights: camera capabilities and a good set of specs to cater to whatever tasks and activities you’re into.

Today, after detailing the vivo V25’s camera skills, we’ll take a look at the other reasons why the device is more than just a camera phone and what makes it a great overall daily-driver smartphone. Let’s begin.

But first, the cameras

Before taking a look at all its other features, let’s focus on the main one: the cameras. This mid-range device boasts a sharp 64-megapixel OIS Ultra-sensing main camera, complete with optical image stabilization (OIS) that allows it to take better low-light photos.

There’s also the relatively sharp 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and 2-megapixel macro shooter. On the front, you can spot an impressively pixel-packed 50-megapixel selfie snapper.

Going back, the built-in OIS, paired with the device’s electronic image stabilization (EIS) makes low-light shots steady, so they appear clearer and sharper.

You can also play with the camera software features to take creative shots. There’s the Bokeh Flare Portrait that blurs out the background with artistic shapes. Bokeh Portrait also works with videos to bring depth to your clips and make them look more professional.

The vivo V25 is also great for those who like shooting YouTube and TikTok videos all by themselves. The sharp 50-megapixel front camera lets you easily record yourself, without the need of using the rear camera and a second person to ensure you’re in the frame.

What’s more, the front camera — like the rear shooter — can shoot 4K videos, so the resolution is the same whichever camera you use. vivo even included vlog movie templates, so you can shoot and edit videos all in one device. No laptop is needed.

Without a doubt, the vivo V25 is equipped with exemplary features to justify its “Night Portrait Master” title.

Clever design with Photochromic 2.0

At a glance, the vivo V25 is already a good-looking smartphone. It has a clean and minimalistic layout, ergonomic shape, and a 2.5D thin and light build that’s only 7.79mm and 186g, respectively.

More than that, the vivo V25 also boasts Photochromic 2.0 technology. vivo is the first to use the feature on a smartphone, which is also used on microscope optical storage devices and biological targeting agents.

Available on the Sunrise Gold variant, the color on the back changes from Yellow to Orange after being exposed to sunlight or UV light. The process only takes seconds and goes faster the stronger the light is.

You can get creative by using a stencil and having it imprinted on the back as the color changes. Use it with your favorite character, a name of a special someone, and more.

Reliable performance

The vivo V25 comes with a generous 256GB of storage to store all your pixel-packed photos on. It is joined with 8GB of physical RAM, which can double up to 16GB using vivo’s Extended RAM 3.0 technology.

With a combined 16GB of RAM, vivo claims that the vivo V25 can have up to 25 apps open, and switching between them wouldn’t be laggy.

In addition, the V25 is powered by a power-efficient 2.4GHz MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset. It boasts 5G UltraSave Technology to save battery, better heat dissipation, and HyperEngine 3.0 for better gaming performance.

During our tests, the vivo V25 offered nothing but fast and reliable performance. Performance-wise, chips like this make us wonder if there’s really a need to spend more for a flagship device.

We spent a lot of time taking pictures with this thing and it was able to do it without a hitch. Image processing was fast and smooth so you can continue shooting without stopping.

AnTuTu also gave it a score of around 480,000, pretty decent for a device at this price. Those numbers reflect in gaming, as Call of Duty Mobile was playable at max frame rates and video quality without any noticeable hitch.

Fast, responsive, colorful display

vivo made sure that the screen department on the vivo V25 is completely decked out.

The deep and vibrant color is provided by the AMOLED panel and 6000000:1 contrast ratio, sharpness by the FHD+ pixel resolution, smoothness by the 90Hz refresh rate, responsiveness with the 180Hz touch sampling rate, and ensuring your eyes are safe from any harmful screen elements is the SGS Eye Care certification.

Dependable battery life and fast charging

The vivo V25 has a 4,500mAh battery. Together with its power-efficient processor, it was able to last us for an entire day of light to moderate use. That’s a mix of casual web browsing, taking photos, and recording videos.

After hours of gaming, the battery was close to running out before the day ends, sometime around noon. Fortunately, it comes with a speedy 44W FlashCharge adapter, which managed to provide a 58% charge in only 30 minutes and a full 100% in about an hour.

Conclusion

The vivo V25 is a great camera phone, even at night. No doubt about that. It has a sharp camera sensor in the front and back and a slew of software features that optimize images, make photo and video recording more enjoyable and produce creative results.

But it is obviously more than that. The vivo V25 also boasts a powerful and efficient processor, reliable battery and fast charging, and a speedy and gorgeous display — all wrapped in a clever and attractive design that’s also both ergonomic and nice in the hands.

You can get the vivo V25 for a price of Php23,999. It is now available on vivo’s official e-store website, Shopee, Lazada, TikTok shop, and all vivo concept stores and kiosks across the Philippines.
